Research & analysis

Conservators have a key function in the preservation of the cultural heritage.
Today there are various tools and instruments available to the conservator in order to analyze and assess the status of the object in question.

Paintings are made by specific characteristics. A painting, while it is an artistic expression, is also a composition of different materials all interacting with each other, as well as the environment surrounding it. Paintings are affected by humidity, climatic change, micro organisms and pollutants.

Ateljé Catellani is specialized in the field of classical paintings, European paintings between 15th to 19th centuries and holds a specific expertise of the Italian renaissance.

In order to research the specific characteristics and condition of a painting , Ateljé Catellani uses different methods of analysis including x-rays , cross section infrared and ultraviolet light.
